How does an "inverted flag" flap?
Welcome to the beautiful problem of ﬂapping of an inverted ﬂag! In this talk, we will discuss what an inverted ﬂag is, how it can be useful in energy harvesting applications, and what some of the underlying physical mechanisms are that make it work. Among other things, we will identify what initiates ﬂapping and characterize the chaotic behavior that this rich dynamical system can exhibit.
