The December issue of Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine ranks Caltech as number one on its list of best values in private colleges. This is the fourth straight year that Caltech has held the top spot.

The Oct. 31 death of prominent rocket scientist and alumnus, Qian Xue-sen, led to dozens of stories about his time at Caltech. Stories appeared in the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times, the New Yorker, Time magazine, the Wall Street Journal, Shanghai Daily, the Associated Press, and the Washington Post, among others. Emeritus professor Frank Marble, who knew Qian, did interviews with Hong Kong television, China Daily, Sing Tao Daily, and BBC radio.
